I have to let you all in on a little secret....... I LOVE
magazines, I see a new beautiful one on the shelf in a bookstore and I have got
to have it, my heart flutters and if I don’t get it then and there I will
obsess over it for hours, days AND WEEKS!! Yes I know it’s a bit weird!
A few years ago I promised the’ long suffering one’ (my gorgeous
husband) that I would stop because herein lies the problem, I also cannot get
rid of a beautiful magazine! They are everywhere, everywhere I tell you! Soooo the
promise was that I could subscribe to two (what only two, I hear you say) and
not buy anymore, so I trawled and pawed and finally decided on two gorgeous
home mags that encompass all thing homey and crafty...... HOME and IDEAS. A deal
was struck and a promise made...... No more magazines AND I would get rid of a
few!!(Was not so sure about that) That
lasted all a few months (Ok, Ok!!!!! weeks- I cannot tell a lie) and then a
magazines were being bought again. I was hauled before the long suffering one
and reminded of my promise! So I tried, I really tried!
Guess where these are? |
Then, oh joy, oh rapture! We when to the UK and I discovered my best, my ultimate, my joy!!!!! MOLLIE MAKES! It is so me, lots of vintage, crochet, knitting and quirky beautiful crafters from all over the world! From the cover to the last page it is read and reread and I fantasise about what I am going to make, and then I reread it all over again, this magazine holds pride of place in my home and is not stock piled with all the others (although I will say, I store my other magazines neatly by date) but always close at hand, in my favourite corner of the house for when I need some inspiration! I love being able to buy them in England, as they come with a little project to make, and I love free crafty things and have been known to buy a magazine just for the cute little free gift!(yes, I will say it again.... WEIRD!!!!!)
Now you know my weakness, and I won’t even go into how many
cook books I have! Don’t tell the LSO (think that how I will refer to my
husband from now on) but I think I have already passed this love onto the
little Madame! She has been known to beg for a princess magazine – and she
always get them. I mean in today’s fast paced world of computers, internet, kindles
(yes! I have one BUT only for novels) and e-readers, what a great passion to
pass on. I just love the thrill of
sitting down to a beautiful magazine in a quiet corner with a frothy hot cappuccino,
for a gentle read...... and daydream!
